MONG KOK
------------------------------------------

Mong Kok is the trendy zone for the youth. All sorts of stores such as clothing stores, Chinese medicine stores, electronics stores, little restaurants, a few theatres line up the streets. In fact, it can be considered to be a mess of many shops and people.
One of my favourite places to browse or shop is the "Argyle Centre" or "Mongkok Centre" in Chinese. There are three floors of tiny shops lined up right next to each other having very cheap clothing and the latest fashions. Many interesting t-shirts can be found here. It is probably worth to go there to see what is "in". Often, bright yellow little labels are put up saying "Popular in Japan!".
In some other shopping centres, some have many toy goods such as figurines or models, and some have many photo sticker machines. I find that many Hong Kong people dress up in punky clothing (like visual kei) and take photos in these machines! --------------------------------------------------------------------
SHAM SUI PO :> Part I, quick tour, Dragon Centre, Computer Centre
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday, I decided to explore another area of HK. I wanted to go to Sham Sui Po. As soon as I got off the MTR, and saw so many people selling electronical equipment on the streets.. From wires, adaptors, light bulbs, fans, fruits, cell phones, you name it, they got it! I saw a cheap but good looking lamp for $35..
I went to the Dragon Centre shopping Centre on Yen Chow Street. It is a very tall building with about 5 or 6 floors! On the the top level, you can see a very a wonderful view!! The crowds of people flowing in the streets and the old tall highrises in the area seem so distant. I never get to see such a view of Hong Kong because usually I am in the crowd! Also on the top floor is a game arcade and next to it was this innocent game centre for "kids".. such as basketball, UFO catchers.. and the game with coins. I noticed that many old people or families gather around the game with coins, armed with a bag full of change, trying to win!! I was shocked!! Then, I also observe that many old people like to go to the arcade and play Mahjong games. THat is sooo funnny!!! ANyway, there was the Typing of the Dead, but it cost $10HK to play.
In the Dragon centre, there was one of those stores that sell nothing but photos of famous singers and stars. I don't know about in your time, but many of those stores display old Fool's Mate and SHOXX outside and sell many buttons even of X Japan, Luna Sea. THe one in Mongkok is even so more amazing. THey have Hide dolls, the first Fool's Mate for about $220HK, and even sell Japanese ads that only feature a particular star! Gokiburi and buda were so amazed by that.. "hey, whats this?! This is supposed to be free!!"
By the time I went out of the shopping centre, It was dark.. But I walked by the computre centre, and so I thought, "why not take a look?". When I first stepped in, i thought, "oohh no! not this kind of place!!". It is another little Sino Centre! full of tear forming cigarette smoke, and huge crowds... (Please refer to [Mongkok: Sino Centre] for more info) But I was so amazed to see actual video games for sell! THere was saturn games, Dricast games, PSX, PC ENgine.. etc.. but absolutely no fan ban console games. I saw Falcom collection II (2 cd) for $90HK , Falcom collection I for $50HK.. Chu Chu rocket (blue 2 cd case) for $50, the Kato and Ken chan chan game for $320HK , the ghost game for $358HK.. etc etc. the saturn games are quite cheap! I am surprised that there would be still PC Engine games for sale though.
So I bought some PC games again:

* ghost restaurant
* some Chinese restaurant game
Civilization III
Typing of the Dead
Alone in the Dark III
PC Engine collection (up)
PC Engine collection (down)
game collection vol. 6
game collection vol. 7

There are so many computer games.. such as Red Alert, new StarCraft, Half Life,.. and then there are even KOF collection, KOF 2001.. The line drawn between console game and PC game is kind of blurred.. I think that some people converted some console game into PC game..
