nymph and elves in forest of mist

A picture of a purple haired and white winged nymph in a forest.. I think that this picture is a little "mysterious" and "surreal".. I also drew this picture on a Christmas card. haha.. well, nothing like Christmas cards to make/force you to draw/write!!! Not only that, but these scans are my only record of these drawings.. I think it would have been easier if i used watercolours to colour it rather than colour pencils.. . It was hard to colour the background and the water. I originally intended the picture to look more dark,.. and have clouds of fog rising from the water, but...
TOOLS: Crayola and Rose Art colour pencils, HB lead pencil, eraser.

Magician (RPG series) :2000.jan

Somehow i got into a RPG drawing mode and designed some of my own RPG characters! This is Sedora, a magic user...
TOOLS: Crayola colour pencils, HB lead pencil, eraser.

Kuroi Kenshin (RPG series) :2000.jan

This is my own RPG character, the "Kuroi Kenshin" or "black swordsman".. A sword and magic user? Anyway, a mysterious character...
TOOLS: Crayola colour pencils, HB lead pencil, eraser.

= d a h l i a = :2000.apr

The second drawing i put up in front of my door. what can i say? I drew this during the end of finals week in December 1999. I was really stressed out.. I heard police cars' sirens screaming,and humming helicopters flying back and forth out from my window.. my notorious physics final.. I knew that i wanted something [dark].
This picture is very loosely based on the band X-japan..whose lyrics contain dreams, reality, endless rain, tears, destruction.. [kill my memories] In fact, the character *kind* of looks like the pianoist/drummer Yoshiki-san. I didn't really intend to though..
The words are actually lyrics of the X-japan's song [dahlia].. they are out of order because of my bad memory.. I taped it on to the drawing. For the "black" paper, i actually used a permanent marker to colour it in... Some comments i got was "whats all this about?" and "scary!" I didn't know what to say.. because this is [me]..turmoil and confusion..
"close your eyes, and i will kill you in the rain"
TOOLS:black ink pen, red ink pen, black permanent marker, silver ink pen..

cw quickie 14.10.2000

A quick sketch coloured with alcohol based markers at Comic World. They supplied the markers.. which are supposed to be expensive.. I never use markers to colour my drawings.. so this is my first time. I'm not that good at it.. you can tell by the blotches of light and dark on the skin! oh well.. :D This is supposed to be a male, BTW.. My friend thought it was a girl.. so.. :D My first coloured page in my sketch book!! :D
TOOLS: Sakura 0.3 mm inking pen, pencil, Neko (?) markers, gummi

~single wing :2003.summer

I was just testing the colours in the summer.. I haven't coloured anything in what seems to be years. Still, after all these years, I still like the black/white/red scheme..!! Maybe I should have tried to colour it using Adobe Photoshop?
TOOLS: black inking pen, crayola colour pencils

~colour test sketch :2002.march

I received these strange crayon-like pens from my friend Chieko for my birthday during my stay in Hong Kong! Here, I'm testing them out. They have intense colours.. but they are kind of hard to use.. . I used a "sharpie" permanent marker to draw the outlines over the colouring, and colour pencils for the eyes. Anyway, here you go, so many colours!
TOOLS: black "sharpie" permanent marker, Pentel Gel-Ink pens, staedler watercolour pencils

nocturne :1999.nov

This is a picture of an aristocrat that i imagine of the old days. Obviously, i have been influenced by Muira Kentarou (who is the author of Berserk).. His style is very beautiful, with lots of shading. BTW, the paper itself is orange. I wasn't really expecting to draw something like this!! Its on a piece of scrap paper that has an Vietnamese club ad on the other side.. (sweat drop rolling down.. @_@)
TOOLS: ballpoint pens(i used a blue one on mistake at first!! it looked like black when drawn on the orange paper!), HB lead pencil (nothing fancy)

baroque :2001

Another "mideval" type picture which i drew on my homework. I had to use Photoshop to edit some of my words on the left! I was so tired when i was drawing this.. .
TOOLS: my HB lead pencil, eraser, homework.. -_-..

::attendre:: 13.may.2001

The same character as the girl in [sketch]. I was working on my physics lab then i checked the date.. It was may 13! hmm. not only is it mother's day, but it is also.. well, i think its my friend's birthday. She kept on bugging me about drawing a picture for her, but she didn't give me her address. So I just drew this picture.. without using colour pencils.. because she is always in a grey-tone world.. As you may have noticed, this picture shown is a zoom up picture (twice the size) of the original one (you can see it if you click on the picture). The scanner always scans the picture twice the size and i always need to use adobe photoshop to not only edit out the grey folds of the paper and other junk, but to shrink the picture to its original size.. However, in this case, it may be better!! Its crazy how i drew such a tiny picture that turns out quite well being zoomed up twice its size...
I also got a great idea for a neat-o picture.. but that wouldn't be happening soon.. ...

TOOLS:pencil, neko inking pen, scratch paper

::gaze:: 04.may.2001

I drew this some years ago while I was living in the dorms. It's actually a sketch.. Incredibly, I was just drawing with the pen and didn't do a rough pencil sketch. Its hard for me to draw spontaneously using a permanent pen. ..

TOOLS:inking pen, scratch paper

::fenetre:: 08.apr.2001

I drew this during my first year living in my apartment. Looking at this drawing reminds me of the certain feeling I felt at that point of time when I drew it.. . Its kind of amazing how an emotion can attach itself to a physical object even after so many years. BTW, the window blinds are the kind we have in my apartment. ...

TOOLS:inking pen, pencil.

::screen:: 04.may.2001

This was drawn on the same page as the picture "Gaze"..!! This was a sudden inspiration.. and I tried to do the background by drawing many lines like in those old wood block prints. Because I didn't use a ruler, the lines aren't straight! I used a "sharpie" black permanent marker for the screen door, but I read somewhere that you shouldn't use that marker for inking because it will bleed in the future!! This was a picture that I was kind of proud of.. and to follow the black/white/red scheme, I used adobe photoshop to color the tie of the sailor uniform --> [+red]

TOOLS:inking pen, "sharpie" permanent marker, pencil, eraser

::monochrome:: spring2004

I was feeling a bit gloomy and sketched this girl. I recently bought a new graphic micron pen and inked in the drawing to test it out. Well, I'm terrible at inking the hair.. but I liked how the final picture came out.

TOOLS:1 mm Sakura micron graphic pen, pencil, eraser

::giselle in da lab!:: 12.august.2004

I drew this drawing for my new Puerto RIcan friend Giselle Gonzalez. She was working in my roommate's lab for a summer research project. This drawing was received with great laughter! Well, here she is shown doing her favourite lab activity: spread plating! See if you can recognise all the lab equipment: erlenmeyer flask with side arm, glass beaker containing ethanol(AKA alcohol), spread plating equipment, bunsen burner, petri dish, micropipettes.. geez.. I must sound like a nerd.. :D :D

?mountain breeze? :1999.nov

A sketch of a girl that i originally drew on my homework.. but i needed to turn that homework in, so i copied it to a clean sheet of paper. I was thinking of many things when this picture was developed.. such as the Sega game for the Dreamcast Shen Mue, Maetel of Leiji Matsumoto's Galaxy Express 999, etc.. The clothes are influenced by Maetel, and "Ji Goht Leurng" of Romance of the Three Kingdoms :D, BTW. I tell you, when i'm tired, i think of strange things.. And i was really tired when i drew this picture on my homework!!! The sketch isn't finished yet, but i guess you guys might want to take a sneak peek at a picture that might be completed in the "future".. that is.. i don't know when i will go and complete it!
TOOLS: my 0.05 mm HB lead pencil, Germany Mars Steadler eraser, (which i use all the time for most of my drawings, homework, etc!!) regular 8" x 11.5" white paper i found/took on a copy machine ;D

?fantasy? :2000.jan

hm~~ yare yare.. This was the sketch for my entry design for my hostel's t-shirt design contest. Unfortunately i didn't get to complete it. HOWEVER! I inked most of it and turned it in. BUT!! Still, it has been *months* since the deadline, and there is *no* word about the t-shirt design. All I want is to get my picture back!!!! I spent so much time doing the edge patterns, its not even funny!! It was very hard for me to design the edge.. to make it not repetitive, and make sure the work is realistic and connected... =_=.. my inked drawing looks much better than this sketch.. I finished inking the edge patterns!! well, i feel sad since i may not get my [unfinished] picture back and finish it.. ;_;.. ANYWAY. . the castle (building) in the background is actually my hostel! (well, a modified version of it anyway.. and it is supposed to have 10 floors, not 7.) I'm not good at drawing buildings.. And yes, there really is an old pine tree too.. The construction next to the castle is also "real" too. Currently, there is a construction project of a new hostel right next to my hostel! The theme is fantasy because that is the theme of our hostel this year. Each floor has a fantasy theme.. such as Greek mythology, Egyptian, island paradise,. etc.. mines is cartoon though! haha.. As you can see, my hostel is kind of "isolated" .. because it is.. The other hostels are not near... The dragon is to portray more of the theme of [fantasy].. You can tell that i like ancient architecture!! Arabian, Greek, Egyptian, Russian..haha..

~tears -spring 2000-

From a piece of scrap paper, drawn during a usual mind boggling session of physics homework. I was thinking of drawing veils often.. .

TOOLS: pencil, eraser

~kurai . February 2001-

This is a sketch on scratch paper while i was studying for my chem 30L quiz. Yup, that is the writing on the left side.. . I originally drew/designed this character on another homework and I liked it, so i drew many more sketches. I really like my design for her dress. I thought that there was too many angels with fluffy bird-like wings around.. so I wanted to draw a bat winged character! Of course, she always wear black.

TOOLS: pencil, eraser, scratch paper

~unsymmetrical 25.May.2001

I was tired of using a lead pencil, so i used a real pencil... This is the result in my sketch book. I wanted to change the title picture, so I was fiddling with Adobe Photoshop to change this picture .. In the end, i used "conte crayons", which makes the drawing look kind of digital! :D

TOOLS: pencil

feeding chickens :2003.spring

To explain this sketch, during that time I was taking this Ornithology class (study of birds)! I have a new hobby.. birdwatching! That is an original character.. Her clothes aren't so original.. hmm.. ever since high school, I still like military style outfits! Wish I could get some good shirts like that! I was thinking of a good name for her.. . best I could think of was "Tori Ornis". "Tori" means "bird" in japanese.. kind of stupid.. but, ideas are welcome!
TOOLS: 0.05mm HB lead pencil, Mars Steadler eraser.

trisept :2003.spring

Original character.. Can you tell, I reuse this hair style so many times already?! Well, I can't really think of any good hair styles. She is holding a "trisectional staff".. I must have misspelled it as "trisept" for some reason.. Of all the weapons, I really like the trisectional staff! Its really cool.. But my skill level in kung fu is elementary, so no chance on learning *any* weapons yet! I like the design on her dress.. although you can't see it too well here. This sketch turned out rather well, so I was planning to draw another better picture of her and ink it in. .
